In the new Windows 11, tons of new features have been introduced. Changes in software support, system architecture, and almost every aspect of Windows OS have been changed. One thing that is new is the new Startup sound.

Startup sounds were available way back before Windows XP, later on, it was also brought in Windows 7. On the release of Windows 11, we again got the startup sound.

By changing the values of the blocks, you can enable, disable or change the startup sound on Windows 11. If you are not quite familiar with the registry, then you can use the easy method that is also provided.

How to Enable, Disable or Change the Startup Sound on Windows 11?

Enable Startup Sound

Using Windows 11, the first thing that will be recognized is that there is no startup sound. By default, the startup sound is disabled in Windows 11 and needs to be enabled.

1- Enable with System Settings

Go to Start and find Settings. Inside the Settings, you will find the Personalization tab.

Open Personalization and click on the Theme tab.

There you will find Sounds Options, navigate and find Play Windows Startup Sound (which is basically on the bottom).

Check the option, Apply and click on OK.

2- Enable with Registry

Here we are going to change the Windows Logon blocks value in the registry to enable the startup sound.

Click on Start and type Run. Now, open Run and type “regedit”.

Then you will need to navigate and find: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/AppEvents/EventLabels/WindowsLogon block.

Double click on the block and there you will find ExcludeFromCPL which is in WindowsLogon.

Now, change the value of the block to 0 and click on OK.

3- Enable with Group Policy

Again open RUN and type “gepedit.msc”.

There you will need to navigate and find: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon.

On the right side, select Turn Off Windows Startup sound. Select the Disabled dot and click on Apply then OK.

Change Windows 11 Startup Sound

Once you have enabled the feature, changing it is the simplest part.

Search for Change system sound in the Start.

Then navigate and find Windows Logon in the Program Events tab.

Click on Windows Logon, and click on the Windows Logon below the Sound section at the bottom.

Change the startup sound according to you and click on Apply then OK.

Disable the Startup Sound

If you got fade up of Startup sound and want to disable it, then follow these methods:

1- Disable the Startup Sound in Windows 11

First, you will need to search Change System Sound in the taskbar. You can also do the Start > Settings > Personalization > Theme tab, there you will click on Sounds options.

Now, uncheck the Play Windows Startup Sound.

Click on Apply then on OK.

2- Disable with registry

You will need to run Registry editor. Click on Start, then open RUN. Inside RUN, type “regedit”.

Then you will need to navigate and find:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\BootAnimation.

Open it, then double click on DisableStartupSound DWORD.

Change the DisableStartupSound DWORD’s value to 1 and click on OK.
